About us
At PDSA, our work has a clear purpose: helping keep people and pets together when financial hardship makes veterinary care difficult to access. For over a century, PDSA has provided vital veterinary care for pets whose owners need support, and the organisation is now expanding its reach so even more people and pets can access the help they need.
Our Margate hospital is collaborative, effective, and built around teamwork, case discussion, and shared learning. The team brings varied clinical interests, giving you access to a strong pool of knowledge when discussing cases, treatment options, and practical plans.
The hospital delivers a donation-funded service, while also offering a private pragmatic service for clients who need accessible, good-value veterinary care. It is a setting where clinical standards, compassion, and real community impact sit side by side.
Our Pet Hospitals are modern and well equipped, with separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases, and extensive orthopaedic equipment.
Friendly and helpful. Looked after our cat for her operation, she was well treated and everything went smoothly. She was out the same day and no issues. Recommended! – Rob L – Google Review
About this role
As Veterinary Surgeon Team Leader, you will hold clinical governance responsibility for the hospital and lead the veterinary surgeon team in delivering an efficient, professional, and caring service to pets and owners in the local community.
This role will particularly suit a vet who enjoys a surgically biased caseload and brings a medical, pragmatic approach to decision-making. You will have the space and support to develop surgical leadership, shape clear evidence-based plans, and help the team identify the best practical option for each pet and owner.
Your leadership will span clinical standards, recruitment and selection, coaching, development, and day-to-day mentoring. You will lead by example, share skills generously, and help create an environment where clinicians communicate clearly, learn from one another, and deliver practical, compassionate care.
About you
You will likely thrive in this role if you:
- enjoy clinical leadership and take pride in helping others develop
- communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and the wider team
- value evidence-based decision-making and practical treatment planning
- are confident working collaboratively and discussing cases openly
- bring a strong interest in surgery and surgical leadership
- are a qualified veterinary surgeon with more than three years of post-qualification experience
