About us
At Alsager Vets for Pets, we are a standalone small animal practice in the heart of Alsager, a welcoming Cheshire market town with countryside, local amenities, and strong transport links close by.
Our practice is owner-led by Carl, an experienced RVN who qualified in 1995 and brings a strong interest in wound management, radiography, and surgical care. Because Carl is on site and closely involved in the practice, decisions can be made quickly, your views are genuinely considered, and you have the freedom to shape patient care in a way that feels thoughtful, practical, and clinically sound.
You will be joining a light, spacious, well-equipped surgery with digital x-ray, ultrasound, blood pressure monitoring, and in-house laboratory facilities. The team includes 3 vets, 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, and 2 receptionists, with two very experienced vets able to support your development and a more recent graduate vet with a special interest in exotics.
We are also proud to be recognised as a certified Autism Friendly Surgery, creating a more inclusive environment for both colleagues and clients
I can not praise this veterinary practise anymore than 10 stars!! You only get 5 on here!! Every single member of staff is absolutely lovely. My Siamese cat, Poppy-Enya, was treated like the princess that she is!! Oh, and she is! She had a thorough check-up and was a happy girl, she got a treat afterwards. Honestly, please take your beloved pets here. The best treatment at reasonable prices. Vets 4 Pets is amazing. It’s a pleasure to visit this place. Thank you so much. About this role
This is a flexible small animal role for a Veterinary Surgeon who would value clinical freedom, a supportive local team, and a rota that protects life outside work.
You will work across general practice medicine and surgery, with the backing of experienced colleagues and an owner who is present, approachable, and able to make decisions without unnecessary delay. There is scope to continue developing your interests, with support for CPD and certificates where appropriate.
We are open to full or part time hours. Ideally, the role would include Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, although we are happy to discuss what works. Saturday mornings are shared on a 1 in 4 rota from 9am to 12pm, with no Sundays and no OOH.
About you
You will be a good fit here if you are looking for a role where you can contribute properly, be trusted clinically, and feel part of a team that values both patient care and work-life balance.
You will bring:
- A thoughtful, practical approach to small animal medicine and surgery
- Confidence working collaboratively with vets, nurses, students, and reception colleagues
- Good communication skills with clients and the wider team
- An interest in continuing to develop clinically, with CPD and certificate support available
- Experience as a Veterinary Surgeon, with competence in medicine and surgical procedures
- Eligibility to work as a Veterinary Surgeon in the UK, including appropriate RCVS registration
Our location
Alsager offers the ease and character of Cheshire market-town life, with countryside close by and the Peak District within reach. Crewe and Sandbach are nearby, Manchester city centre is around an hour away, and the M6 is less than 15 minutes from the practice.
With local train, bus, and road links, this is a location that suits someone who wants a more balanced daily rhythm without feeling disconnected from larger towns, cities, and weekend options.
Our offer
We can offer:
- Salary up to £60,000 FTE, dependent on experience
- Full or part time flexibility
- 1 in 4 Saturday mornings only
- No Sundays and no OOH
- Clinical freedom in an owner-led standalone practice
- CPD support, with certificate support available
- Paid RCVS and VDS memberships
- Contributory pension scheme
- Exclusive company discounts and rewards
- A supportive team with experienced vets, RVNs, SVN, and reception colleagues
We are happy to have an open conversation about the working pattern, development support, and package that would make this role genuinely sustainable for you.
